I recently volunteered on the mission trip that LifePoint took to JRM in Montego Bay, Jamaica. While our team was there, we had the amazing opportunity to build a house for a local and her family, as well as visit a local elementary school. Little did I know upon arrival that by the end of those eight days, my life would be changed. This mission trip was like no other that I have ever been on before. Not only were the service opportunities incredible and impactful, but what was most surprising and special to me was the incredible dynamics and bond that our service team possessed. So many adults in the local church that met us exactly where we were and genuinely wanted to get to know us and our stories on a deep level. They took their time each and every night to give us insight from their walks with Christ and inquire about ours. By the end of the week I truly felt the overwhelming blessing and gift of the church being multigenerational, and learned the vitality of gaining biblical wisdom from those multiple seasons of life ahead of you. This trip changed my perspective on so many things. It taught me primarily gratitude for all the blessings we too easily take for granted, as well as how to have true joy despite circumstance (as I learned through the children that we visited). Most of all I learned that the Lord will use you in mighty ways when you just say yes and listen to His call to go. Say yes whether you feel properly equipped or not, say yes despite fears and worries, and say yes with assurance that the Lord will provide you with exactly what you need in order to carry out his will for you.
