Wow, where do I start? This is my second trip to Kenya to serve in the same location. I just couldn’t get the words together to share the first time. This time God put seven women together to provide opportunities to build relationships and serve people in a variety of different ways.

First, we went to a local school to talk with the teachers about neurodiversity and executive functioning skills. Then we did a zoom meeting with a speech therapist at the school to talk about speech to text options. This lead to her coming on Friday to meet a boy with Cerebral Palsy to see if he is a good candidate to do a specific therapy she just received training for. She is even going to help fundraise so his family can get him the transportation needed to receive the therapy. God is amazing and we saw him working like this all throughout our trip!

We went and visited a drug rehab clinic and had bible study there with a local pastor and his church members. Our bible study was about Acts 2::42-47 and we talked about the community we have in Jesus Christ. It was amazing to participate in a Bible study with fellow believers on the other side of the world. It was so great to have that experience to be able to really personalize and be specific in our prayers for this outreach.

We visited Salama Care which focused on supporting young girls who are pregnant out of wedlock. Their mission is to support these young ladies through their pregnancy to ensure they are getting prenatal care and learning skills to support themselves and their baby all while learning about Jesus.

Finally, we got to serve families by watching their children with special needs while they received business training. In Africa, people with disabilities are viewed as a curse and often times are kicked out of their families. Some of the women are single moms because their husbands have left them as well. These broken families are not only materialistically poor, but also spiritually poor. This area of Kenya is predominantly a Muslim area. As we are ministering to these families, the call of prayer to Muhammad can be heard in the background. These people desperately need the love of Jesus and to know him as Lord and Savior.

You can join us in praying for the missionaries and local brothers and sisters in Christ who are our community that are living our mission as a church: Love like Jesus, Share like Jesus, Live like Jesus (1 Thess. 2:8).
